That's right. Transform your full-featured Travel Tripod into a minimalist, ultralight backpacking tripod using the Peak Design Ultralight Conversion Kit. And all without a tool.
Learn how by watching Art Director Law's video demonstration, reading the instruction card, or following the quick steps below:
1. Remove the bottom sections of each leg. To do this, apply pressure on the outside of the shroud (this looks like the topmost lever on the tripod leg) and release it. Flip it open.
2. Open up the first lever. Then grab the entire collar to pull out the entire lever section of the tripod. Repeat this for the other two legs.
IMPORTANT: Make sure not to lose the upper bushings on the removed legs when using the Ultralight Conversion Kit
The bare legs should look like this
3. Simply pop the 3 lightweight rugged plastic foot plugs in until the spring loaded buttons click into place.
And now you have a mini tripod that weighs nearly 50% lighter than the Travel Tripod, yet has pro-level stability and features.
In terms of materials, the foot plugs are made of rugged, reinforced plastic. The tips of the foot plugs have rubbery feet for vibration damping (the same material used on the Travel Tripod's standard feet).
